The Do Dham with Tungnath Yatra is a sacred Himalayan pilgrimage that unites three of Uttarakhand’s most revered shrines — Kedarnath, Badrinath, and Tungnath, the highest Shiva temple in the world. This journey is a perfect blend of faith, mythology, and scenic beauty, offering a profound experience for both devotees and nature enthusiasts.
Kedarnath, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, represents Lord Shiva’s infinite power; Badrinath, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, symbolizes compassion and salvation; and Tungnath embodies peace and penance. Together, these three form a divine triad of the Shaiva–Vaishnava–Yogic essence, where the soul experiences both devotion (bhakti) and elevation (moksha) amid the Himalayan serenity.
The best time for this combined Yatra is from May to October, when the temples are open.
May–June: Pleasant weather, snow-clad peaks, and comfortable travel conditions.
July–August: Monsoon brings lush greenery but also risks of landslides — not ideal for elderly pilgrims.
September–October: Post-monsoon period offers clear skies, golden meadows, and peaceful routes — the most recommended time.
All temples close by mid-November for winter when idols are moved to their respective winter abodes: Kedarnath to Ukhimath, Badrinath to Joshimath, and Tungnath to Makkumath.
The Do Dham with Tungnath Yatra takes around 6 days by road, depending on your itinerary.
